More regional Mexican food comes our way.

Remember when I told you about Jalisco Norte, the “authentic Mexican kitchen and bar, inspired by regions across Mexico” that was going to open in Turtle Creek Village? It seemed like it would take forever.

Forever comes Thursday at 4 p.m. when the doors to the swanky spot operated by the NL Group (Dish, Dakota’s Steakhouse, Front Room Tavern) are set to swing open.

There you will meet chef Jose Meza, a new talent to Dallas. His resume includes Rene Redzepi’s Noma in Copenhagen, Enrique Olvera’s Pujol in Mexico City, and Hotel Nizuc in Cancun.

Don’t go expecting Mex-Tex, Meza’s menu includes “traditional Mexican dishes such as tuna tartar tostadas, Nachos Norte with refried beans, guacamole, cheese, and pico de gallo, and enchiladas.” Wait, that sounds a little Mex-Tex to me. I suppose we’ll have to wait and view the whole menu.

Jalisco Norte will feature an aggressive cocktail program designed by beverage director Trevor Landry and bar manager, Ravinder Singh. Expect lots of agave-distilled spirits such as tequila and mezcal, as well as sotol, and bacanora.

If the place is packed, look for the Loncheria, a walk-up market window where you can pick up food to go. It should be ready to roll in a few weeks.
