What inspires your style?
I’ve lived, worked, and traveled all over the country and the world, and I am inspired by what I see.
I’m happiest traveling light, so I’ve built my wardrobe around a central color palette of grays and blues that allow easy matching, and I prefer fabrics that travel well, like mohair, hopsack, and sharkskin weaves, and knitted silk ties.
Who inspires your style?
Ed Shaikh, co-founder and creative director of Hadleigh’s (Dallas and New York). Ed has taught me how garments should fit and how to adapt the geometry of classics to my advantage. He’s elevated my style by simplifying the colors and patterns I pull together, and his passion for quality and bespoke craftsmanship is a joy to experience.
How would you say your style has evolved over the years?
Dropping 40 pounds over the last few years and working with Ed has helped me create and enjoy my current style. The biggest change is fit. My clothes were too loose, and I didn’t appreciate the significance of tailoring. Now, everything I own is carefully fitted or altered at J’s Tailor on Oak Lawn.
How would you describe your style?
I’d like to think I have a cosmopolitan look inspired by classics. I wear what I enjoy, and I treat each day as a special occasion. I view clothing as a form of expressing my interests. I enjoy art, history, and travel, and my style reflects each of those.
Do you have a go-to look?
On weekdays, I wear suits. I’m most comfortable in tailored suits in the Neapolitan, lightly-constructed style, always with a tie, white pocket square, and simple knot cufflinks in gold or silver.
Do you have a go-to designer?
My suits, jackets, slacks, and shirts are Hadleigh’s, designed and fitted by Ed Shaikh in his second-floor atelier in Highland Park Village, and made in Naples, Italy. My favorite suits and jackets are made by Caesar Attolini.
I also like Rag & Bone in Highland Park Village. T-shirts and swim shorts are Orlebar Brown, ordered online or purchased at St. Bernard Sports.
