Mayor Tells State Dallas Could Go Bankrupt. At a hearing before the Texas Pension Review Board in Austin on Thursday, Mike Rawlings said unfunded liabilities of the Dallas Police and Fire Pension Fund were the result of “much like a Bernie Madoff scheme” in which fund members guaranteed themselves 8- to 10-percent returns on their investments. He said in order to contribute the $1.1 billion that the pension board wants in 2018, the city would have to increase its property tax rate 130 percent.

Cop Accused of Seeking Underage Sex Resigns. Officer Ricardo Solis was accused of approaching two minors for sex while off-duty about a year ago. He quit before an internal affairs hearing on Thursday. Meanwhile another officer, Senior Cpl. Justin Shaffer, was fired for lying about daily activities while on duty and harassing his ex-wife.

Colleyville Student Brings Gun to School. The 16-year-old was arrested after another student told administrators at Heritage High School that he had a 45-caliber Remington semi-automatic handgun and bullets in his backpack.
