Halloween is over, and November is in full swing. That means the holidays are already arriving next month. Instead of waiting until the day before to buy gifts, like I’m occasionally guilty of, you can get ahead this weekend and then have a chuckle while driving past the mall two days before Christmas while all those poor schmucks wait in line for an hour.

Tomorrow at 7 pm, local nonprofit SPARK! is hosting its second annual silent auction, Passport to SPARK!, at its location in the South Side on Lamar building. You can battle for auction items such as suite tickets for Mavs, Stars, or Rangers games, a golf ball autographed by Jordan Spieth, 400,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles, Kendra Scott jewelry, a Dallas Bar Crawl package, VIP passes to the Nasher, personal service from a local chef, experience packages with local artists, and many more items that would make killer gifts. And the cool thing is that proceeds will help to fulfill SPARK!’s mission of fostering creativity in children, especially kids from low-income families, as well as supporting other similar programs.

Tickets for the travel-themed event can be purchased here for $50, and include plenty of food and drinks, free valet, and live music from the Booker T. Washington High School jazz band.
