After listing the top 20 spots in town, I held a blind taste test to determine which of the local chains produced the best barbecue. I gathered staff and bought the same items from Dickey’s and Sonny Bryan’s. Poor Dickey’s lost by a tenth of a point! The write up is on page 81.
Now comes word that Dickey’s is stretching its menu into the taco world. For a limited time, they’re selling Buffalo & Bleu Butcher Tacos. The corporate press release claims these puppies will “offer a new take on traditional flavors.” Huh? Oh, this makes it more clear: “The new taco will feature Dickey’s signature chicken raised without antibiotics, topped with romaine lettuce and bleu cheese, then drizzled with Buffalo sauce. It’s a new spin on a Texas favorite!” So the Texas favorite is the taco? The signature chicken? I’m confused, but it made me hungry. Tacos sold in September only.
