In need of some weekend plans to occupy your crew? You’re in luck. There’s loads of goodness happening over the next couple of days.

Herewith our picks:

  1. Promise of Peace Community Garden Market and Brunch. On Saturday from 10-2, head over to Promise of Peace Community Garden for their market and brunch. You can harvest fresh produce from the garden’s common area, shop  for goods from local artists, take in some live music, and get tasty eats from the Yellow Belly Food Truck. While you’re there, you can also sign up for the Promise of Peace Community Garden 2013 Spring kids camp, which runs for five weeks beginning March 30. For more information about the camp, email Elizabeth.
  2. Old Time Music Jam at Dallas Heritage VillageAlso on Saturday from 2– 4:30 p.m., you could hit the Dallas Heritage Village for some old fashioned musical action. The twice-monthly music jam takes place at the Village’s Browder Springs Hall where musicians gather to play old time acoustic, fiddle-infused tunes.”  The event is free with paid admission to Dallas Heritage Village.
  3. Drawing from the Collection for Children at the ModernCut to Sunday at 2:00, when our very own D Moms Arts Editor Lucia Simek will join forces with Crisman Liverman to lead kiddos through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern’s collection. There will be two age-appropriate sessions offered (one for kids ages 5 to 9 and another for kids ages 9-12). Note that each child under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult during the program. All you need to bring is your creativity, a sketchbook, and pencils (or you can purchase supplies in the Modern Shop). Attendance is limited and admission is free, so be sure to get there early!
