Parking! The DNA of Place…or Anti-Place

|

I know. I know.  Parking seems so mundane.  But, what if I told you that how parking is handled from both a coding and design standpoint is one of the most critical determinants in the quality and thus value of a place?  Well, guess what?  We’ll be talking about parking next Thursday evening at the Dallas Center for Architecture.  Join us, if you can find a parking spot.

Date:March 31, 2016
Time:6:00 PM
Location:Dallas Center for Architecture
1909 Woodall Rodgers Frwy.
Suite 100
Dallas, Texas 75201
Details:There can be no doubt that Dallas is currently a car-dependent city. And yet, we crave to be more “walkable” and friendly to other modes of transportation like bicycles, trolleys and mass transit. How do those two seemingly opposing forces live in juxtaposition? How do our parking plans, codes, and regulations—now and moving forward—advance us to our goals while dealing with the still-existing realities?

Join the Dallas Center for Architecture for a lively and provocative panel discussion with developers and planners as we explore where things stand now…and where we might be headed. The moderator will be Kourtny Garrett, President of Downtown Dallas, Inc.  Panelists will include: Dustin Bullard, Vice President-Cityscape and Design, Downtown Dallas, Inc.; Peer Chacko, Chief Planning Officer and Director of Planning and Urban Design, City of Dallas; Neal Sleeper, President, Cityplace Co.; Patrick Kennedy, Partner, Space Between Design Studio and Founder, ANewDallas.com; and Jim Lake, Jr., CEO/Partner, Jim Lake Companies.

The 6:30 p.m. panel discussion will be preceded by a 6:00 p.m. reception. $10 donation requested at the door.  To register, e-mail to [email protected].

Cost:$10 donation requested at door.
