Catherine Downes and I just strolled up the block to lunch at San Salvaje. We found the restaurant closed. I called chef/owner Stephan Pyles and he has this to say:

Yes, San Salvaje is closed permanently. We just couldn’t make it work. Tried our damndest.  It was a horrible location for dinner and the numbers didn’t work for just lunch.

Pyles certainly gave the space a good try. His first concept Samar closed in February 2014. I still miss the food. He redid the interior and reopened at San Salvaje with a Latin American menu. I will miss that food as well.
