I popped into the new Neighborhood Services location in Village on the Parkway and discovered a new delicacy on the menu: Cape Cod Native oysters. These gems are farmed in bay off the coast of Barnstable, Massachusetts, by husband-and-wife team. The oysters grow in an area that is grassy, muddy, mossy, and sandy. They are moved from the brackish water to the deeper ocean waters to finish the grow out and absorb just a touch of salinity. The shells are deep; the oysters plump. The low level of salinity allows the earthy flavors of grass and mud to dominate. I’ve never eaten such a creamy oyster.

Only 3,000 of these babies are harvested every week. Neighborhood Services is the only restaurant in Texas where you can sample them.

In case you haven’t notice, Village on the Parkway is on fire. The new AMC theater hasn’t even opened and the massive parking lot is full every night.
