Ahoy, chileheads! Hatch chile season is just around the corner. Not too many Dallas restaurants do a better job of roasting and serving them than Blue Mesa. Why? Because they were bringing in Hatch chiles long before they were a marketing trend.

All Blue Mesa locations will offer a special menu for August (starting August 5th) and September that includes three varieties of chiles rellenos – cheese, smoked chicken, and Oaxaca cheese and shrimp. You will also find pozole made with veal shank, Hatch chiles, green onions, garlic, celery, and hominy.  Guest chef Sharon Hage has created Cajun shrimp with tomatoes and roasted corn on Hatch chile grits.

Co-owner Liz “Baroness” Baron notes:

The restaurants will host two Hatch buffet dinners featuring all the Hatch menu specials plus many more Hatch and Blue Mesa favorites.  Avion Tequila will be featured at the August dinner, and Olmeca Altos Tequila at the September dinner.  The festival cocktail, the Pineapple Hatch Margarita, will be offered for a special price of $7 at the dinners.  Wednesday, August 13th and Wednesday, September 10th Both dinners are from 5:00 – 9:00PM. $16 for the buffet (not including tax and gratuity).  Cash bar.

Festivities for Central Market’s Annual Hatch Chile Festival begin on August 6.
