smokeThe boys over at Smoke, next to the Belmont Hotel in Oak Cliff, have quit counting money long enough lease a space for a second location. The Three Amigos, Christopher Zielke, Christopher Jeffers, Tim Byres (Smoke, Bar Belmont, Chicken Scratch, and The Foundry), are taking over the space formerly known as Snuffer’s and before that Tony Roma’s and Sfuzzi in the Preston Towne Crossing at Preston and Park in Plano. (Yes, near Trader Joe’s!)

The menu at the new place will mirror Tim Byres’ philosophy and scratch-bake kitchen with regional ingredients. Byres plans to overhaul his original menu and debut a new one at both places. He also plans to add two smokers to the kitchen.

The 5,800-square-foot space restaurant will be gutted and redesigned by Dallas-based Coeval Studio, led by John Paul Valverde and Miguel Vicens. The vibe will mimic the original Smoke.

The Three Amigos have big plans for a patio expansion. The image you see here is a working sketch of the patio. They haven’t taken possession of the building so they’re still jamming on ideas. “We want a heavily landscaped patio to break up the expanse of that parking lot,” Chris Zielke says. “We’re going to add mature Texas trees around the building.”

Plans call for a late 2014 opening.
