It’s Friday. I say this with tender feeling and relief at the same time. Who doesn’t need a little whisky in their lives on a Friday evening? (This doesn’t include those of you below the age of 21.) Raise the Macallan is a tasting event conducted at Union Station (200 S. Houston) for people who’d like to try the fine oak scotch and sherry oak scotch whisky. Deep Ellum Outdoor Market and Good Records are bringing the Good Local Market to lowest Greenville from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Good Records’ parking lot (1808 Greenville Ave.) will be full of local vendors and food trucks, like Yellow Belly, a new truckie on the block. It’s Promise of Peace Garden’s third birthday party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 7446 East Grand Ave. Join director Elizabeth Dry for fresh plates made by Charles Plummer of the Dallas County Youth Village’s garden. Hear live music, win raffle prizes, and drink beer and champagne for the big three-year toast. There’s plenty of parking, so look for the signs.
There’s also the Slideluck Potshow happening at 6 p.m. inside the Power Station (3816 Commerce St.). I don’t know about you guys, but the name of this party alone make me want to attend. The point of this gathering is for everyone to bring one dish for everyone to share, and, whilst enjoying all the food, watch a slideshow of multimedia art by local artists.
From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., be daring and dress for a murder mystery tea party at The Fairmont Dallas. Drink tea cocktails and eat from a tea-inspired menu. Before dinnertime is over, though, solve the crime so you can win a nice prize for two.

The Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, which recently recruited Stephan Pyles to model in its2013 calendar, is hosting a Buddy Walk from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Victory Park. There’ll be plenty of food trucks and fun bounce houses, balloon artists, jugglers, and endless other ways to keep kids entertained for ages.
