Tomorrow is National Bring Your Salad to Work Day?

It must be true, I just read it in a press release. Tomorrow “women across America are invited to bring their salads to work in an effort to eat better and feel more energized throughout the workday.” Forgive a moment of naivety: Can anyone declare a national day? If so, I think the FIghtin’ Foodies of the SideDish Nation should make one up. Seriously, if Working Mother and Kraft Salad Dressings can pick “a day to set aside to embrace healthful eating in the workplace” why can’t we? BTW, have you really looked at how many grams of fat and calories can hide under the name of salad?

Oh, this kinda stuff just gets me crazy. National Bring Your Salad to Work Day, grrr. Some PR person made a ton of money coming up with that one. How about “National Stay in Your Jammies and Watch Endless Episodes of Prison Break Day”? Works for me, it has a Dallas connection (Hi, Tweener!) and zero calories. Ranch up, Dishers. Think of a day and we’ll make it happen.

(BTW, the salad pictured above is the best salad I ever ate. Of course, it “lives” in San Francisco at a cool restaurant called NOPA. It was all kinds of exotic lettuces, bacon, and candied walnuts tossed ever so lightly with vinegar and topped with an egg.)
