Book Club: On Garden Style

Everyone loves Bunny Williams and pretty gardens.

Honest minute: I do not have an estate with grounds and gardens and gardeners. I don’t even have a single bit of ground nor a single garden. This is probably a good thing because I am not a person who is capable of caring for—or paying someone to care for—a beautiful outdoor space. So I go running in pretty neighborhoods, and I enjoy the beautiful landscaping while trying to look like I belong there and avoid getting run over by people who roll through stop signs. Sometimes, though, I don’t want to run. Many times, I just want to eat candy and look at pretty things. That’s why I’m currently very excited about my new book, Bunny Wlliams on Garden Style. Here’s what the book promises: “Just as Bunny has taught us, in her many books, how to think about style in the rooms of a house, so, too, in this volume we learn how to fill the rooms of our gardens with character, nuance, and real personality.” Rooms of our gardens! Gardens have rooms? I can’t wait to get my own outdoor rooms someday. In the meantime, I love looking at the beautiful gardens in Connecticut, New York, Maryland, and other East Coast havens. And the tips are the best. On the topic of container gardening, Bunny says, “I think the humble container deserves another audition.” Me, too, Bunny; me, too.
