The embroidery textile native to Central Asia, Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan was traditionally created in the 18th and 19th century for brides as part of their dowry. The cotton and silk textile is made by connecting multiple panels stitched together and dyed in vivid colors. Today the pattern is knocked off for bedspreads, pillows, throws, curtains, and upholstery.
