Broadway, here I come! No, I’m not pursuing a latent acting career—although some might suggest I have a flair for the dramatic. One could, of course, site my escapades last Friday night, when I almost ate it trying to maneuver a very dark roof top deck at the preview for Norwegian artist Matias Faldbakke’s show at The Power Station. As I suddenly—and very unexpectedly—dropped down two steps to a lower deck, I think I was worried more about bruising my ego than tearing a tendon. I wobbled like a giant bobblehead, with one foot down and then, finally the other. Luckily, I never crashed on to the deck. I had just been given my first glass of wine prior to venturing upwards then downwards. It remains on the deck.
But back to my current trip—a quintessential NYC weekend full of shows, shopping, and dining at some of New York’s newest places. Since tickets for The Book of Mormon had to be booked months in advance, this trip is also considered part of my birthday “package,” even though my birthday was months ago. The ticket receipt, printed on plain paper, very conveniently had the barcode missing so I would be unable to redeem them if the relationship (then still quite new) ended up not working out. Ain’t love grand?
Broadway makes me think of Bollywood, the other place where people suddenly, and for no reason, break into song and choreographed dance.
