RENT-A-JET: The Ultimate Freedom

|

Whether it’s for business or pleasure, the discerning traveler who doesn’t want to take a commercial flight can now choose from a variety of charter flight companies that operate out of Love Field, Addison Airport or Redbird Airport. Charter offerings at Love Field include JET FLEET, with 34 planes ranging from Lear Jets to BACI-U 24-passenger airlines. The primary destinations are North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, at a cost of $1.25 to $925 per statute mile (psm). A five-day jaunt to Paris on a Lear 35, with two-days’ flight time and three days on the ground, will run J31.283, so enjoy it. If you’re heading for the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, Canada or anywhere in the United States, ALPHA AVIATION does a heavy business in corporate flying at a cost of $1.25 to $2.85 psm. KITTY HAWK AIRWAY’S 20 planes head for the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Canada. Besides business, they also specialize in recreational flights; hunters and fishermen take note. The charge is 90 cents to $2.35 psm.

The granddaddy of charter services at Addison Airport is CHAPARRAL AVIATION, in business since the mid-Fifties. At a cost of $125 to $650 per hour, depending on whether you’re bound to Canada, Mexico, or some part of the United States, Chaparral offers light snacks and a full bar on all planes.

STERN AIR (formerly JET FLIGHT) will take you anywhere in the world and offers any level of catering on request. Stern Air boasts the XR (Extended Range) Lear Jets, which fly farther, faster and higher than standard Lears, thus saving the customer time and money. Cost: $2.50 psm.

A new face at Addison is MILLION AIR, a 24-hour jet service with posh on-board accouterments like a Jacuzzi and tanning beds. They require a minimum two-hour flight at a cost of $200 per hour plus $2.75 psm.

VASA AIRLINES, with headquarters at Love Field, Addison and Red Bird airports, will fly anywhere on the North American continent for $1.35 to $2 psm. Its cabin-class twin-engine planes have been chartered by Billy Graham and the Rolling Stones.
