THE HANOVER RUN-OFF

|

For all you running enthusiasts who’ve been waiting for the announcement of the date and time of the Manufacturers Hanover Corporate Challenge race, here’s the official word: September 20 at 7 p.m. in front of Dallas City Hall. Manufacturers Hanover, the fourth largest banking company in the nation, sponsors the race in 12 other cities. This is the second year for the Dallas race.

The 3.5-mile course, which winds through downtown Dallas, will pit such companies as InterFirst Bank Dallas against First City Bank of Dallas and Bennigan’s against TGI Friday’s. The race categories include men’s, women’s and coed teams as well as a CEO category, which is new to the race this year. More than 100 other corporations, some with as many as 60 team members, will compete for awards, which will be handed out September 25 at The Lancers Club. The winning teams in each category will be flown to New York City for the November 18 national championship race.

Manufacturers Hanover Commercial Corp. business development officer Steve Reichmuth represents the company for the Dallas race, which is expected to draw about 3,000 runners. SMU track coach Ted McLaughlin is race director, and former Dallas Cowboy D.D. Lewis is the starter. Sportscaster Dale Hansen and sportswriter Randy Galloway are emcees.
