When Deep Ellum’s Kirk Hopper Fine Art gallery was faced with the challenge of having an artist drop out of a show, they rebounded with admirable ease.  The result is Ctrl+V: Collage at KHFA, and Peter Simek has a full review on FrontRow, with details on who and what the gallery used to replace the would-be contributing artist. Says Simek:

It’s a credit to Kirk Hopper that they managed to nonetheless string together a strong replacement show. Using Riggio’s paper collages as a departure point, the gallery has brought together work by nine other artists who all work in various forms of collage. It’s a simple conceit, but one that is strengthened by the diversity of approaches and the contrasting takes on this simple artistic strategy.

The show runs through September 13, so see it while you can. The gallery is open from noon to 6 pm today.

Yesterday we mentioned that Jason Mraz was at the Winspear, and it turns out that he’ll be here for a repeat performance this evening. One thing we should have mentioned yesterday is that his supporting act will be the folk-rock act Raining Jane, and Mraz has also collaborated with the group on his recent work. While that may be true, he recently told the Dallas Morning News if he could duet with anyone, it would be Weird Al Yankovic. Dreams can come true, Jason.
