If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get to Billy Bob’s—stranger things have happened, I’m almost positive—tonight’s Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival kickoff event is a good one.

There’s live music, obviously. Stoney LaRue is the guest of honor. There’s food from 12 different chefs, including Tim Love, Jon Bonnell, and many others, plus lots of locally-made beer, wine, and spirits. Classy stuff. This is pretty much my platonic ideal of an evening at a honky tonk. Tickets are $70 and still available online. But if you can’t make it out this evening, the festival will run all weekend.

At the Dallas Museum of Art, KERA’s Jeff Whittington moderates the latest State of the Arts panel. Tonight’s theme is urban planning. Speakers include Brent Brown, the founding director of bcWorkshop and head of the City of Dallas’ CityDesign Studio; Catherine Cuellar, the executive director of the Dallas Arts District; and Robert Meckfessel, an architect and the president of LaReunion, TX.
