Thumbs Down to Tarrant County Judge Mike Moncrief for keeping such poor tabs on his family’s fortune. All right Mike, so you had the county’s best interests in mind when you voted, along with the other Tarrant County commissioners, to make InterFirst Bank Fort Worth the county’s official depository, placing $109 million of taxpayers’ money there. But family ties must not be too tight if you can’t remember that Uncle W.A. Moncrief is a board member and major stockholder of InterFirst Corp. Maybe the judge has forgotten that it’s against state law for public officials to vote on contracts that they know will benefit relatives.
