MARK CUBAN’S MOVIE THEATER MAKEOVER

|

I was in New York last Friday, unable to post this Variety story about Mark Cuban’s latest strategy to get people to go to his (and 2929 Entertainment partner Todd Wagner’s) movie theaters. That strategy? Get people out of their homes by making movie theaters more like their homes. I’m not kidding:

“We are going to experiment with all kinds of seating plans,” Cuban says. “From sofas at the new Landmark in the Westside Pavilion, where we will literally try to make it more like a living room experience than a theater.”

Of course, not many houses have a “Wall of Popcorn,” like some of the Landmark spots will sport. So he may be on to something there.
