The two dogs pictured in our May story, “Un-peaceable Kingdom,” have met different fates. The retriever shown with Dr. Steven Fakes, director of the Animal Resources Center at Southwestern Medical School, was “humanely sacrificed.” Pakes says, as part of a long-term study of kidney functions.
The nine-week-old pointer-beagle-mix puppy pictured with Carol Cobb, director of the Dallas SPCA, was adopted by a local family. The puppy was part of a litter of eight, and every one was adopted by a different owner.
