A SWEETHEART NAMED DESIRE?

|

I know that’s awful, but you’ll have much better luck with the play itself, “Rancho Pancho,” an excellent new spin on Tennessee Williams, featuring his relatively little-known friend Pancho Rodriguez, and including a riff on Dallas’ Margo Jones. It starts a limited run in San Antonio June 23 at the Church Bistro & Theater, a cool place in the King William Historic District. Playwright Gregg Barrios, a former book editor at the Express-News, has spent years researching the relationship between Williams and Rodriguez and it’s likely the play will have legs, as they say in the business. Check it out if you’re down yonder looking for remains of the Spurs.
