CUBAN NO LIKEY NYT

|

Another NYT-reading FrontBurnervian points out this fracas between Mark Cuban and the Old Gray Lady. Once again, the business section of the paper has done Cubes wrong and he has the back-and-forth e-mail exchange with the writer to prove it. Cuban is not the first to suggest that bloggers are more reliable than “real” journalists, but he goes so far as to say bloggers have higher standards. That’s a big, dangerous generalization. For every one blog that gets a story “right” (whatever that means), there are about 1,000 bloggers with their own rumor-tastic, uniformed, unsupervised, highly opinionated opinion. There are merits to blogs, I add wishy-washily, but just because someone can make an awesome peanut butter and jelly sandwich doesn’t mean he or she is ready to open a five-star restaurant.

(More back story can be found on Cuban’s site and Media Orchard.)
