A broad-minded FrontBurnervian Foodie just forwarded me the “Service Evaluation Program” outline for the Mobil Travel Guide. Seems a local restaurant was trying to get a listing in the “trusted advocate for travelers” who are looking for recommendations. Holy Tim Zagat! These Mobil guys have it made–they charge the inquiring restaurant a $2,500 service fee. They also add the “inspector’s” airfare, hotel, and other related travel expenses. Oh, and the restaurant picks up the cost of the actual meal. Huh? So you pay around $5,000 to see how you stack up? IJS.
