WHAT’S YOURS IS MAYAN

|

Paul Meyer writes in today’s DMN about a Guatemalan expedition by archaelogists from Yale and SMU. David Freidel, a professor at the latter, is one of the foremost Mayan experts, author of several books on the ancient culture. The latest news is the discovery of Site Q, a previously rumored location that spawned art and artifacts. Freidel and Co. has found proof of its existence. Meyer’s story reminded me of David Grann’s 120,000-word (I’m guessing) article in a recent New Yorker, “The Lost City of Z,” but obviously not as detailed.

What’s the point of this post? Dunno. Except it’s all very Indiana Jones-ish, and I wish I were there.
