What I’m Watching: Dallas Cowboys Football

Plus: the last Silver Boot series of the year, and the Mustangs go upset-hunting against Oklahoma.

The Rangers finally won a series against the Mets but couldn’t complete the sweep, while TCU was stunned by Colorado, 45-42. No such luck for FC Dallas, which lost 2-1 on the road at St. Louis City SC.

Here’s what I’m watching this week

Monday, 9/4—Rangers versus Astros3:05 p.m., Bally Sports Southwest

The final Silver Boot series of the year comes with massive playoff implications, as Texas and Houston each trail Seattle by a game in the AL West. A series win gives the Rangers badly needed momentum and divisional traction. Losing two of three is palatable. But if they get swept? Don’t make Sean Bass hit the panic button again.

Saturday, 9/9—SMU at Oklahoma5:00 p.m., ESPN+

Unlike TCU (Colorado) and UNT (Cal), the Mustangs didn’t open their season against a power-five opponent. They’ll make up for it by getting their crack this weekend against the big, bad Sooners—who, it should be noted, were not exactly imposing last year at 6-7. Could that position SMU for an early season upset?

Sunday, 9/10—Cowboys at Giants7:20 p.m., NBC

Congratulations, Cowboys fans, you made it. Now it’s on the Cowboys do their part and bring home that elusive Super Bowl after 27 long years. Whether or not that happens, Jake Kemp will have more this week on why the pressure is on the team to make a serious run or potentially stare down major changes.
