Okay it is possible, though unlikely, that this is not the best plant sale of the year. Still, when the Dallas Organic Garden Club president Chrissy Cortez-Mathis sent me a list of what will be available at their annual sale, it made my heart sing. All of the plants are grown organically, duh, but what I like is that all of the plants are from members’ gardens or they started them from seed. The 4″ pots go for $2, quarts are $4. Here’s a list of the plants that members are bringing so far; I love their little comments which I print here verbatim: Lambs ear, Oregano, Aloe vera, Marigolds, two fig trees (babies grown from cuttings a couple of loquats), a rose, Hyacinth Bean, Cardinal Climber Vine, Morning Glory, Sun Flowers, Butterfly Tropical Milkweed, Northern Sea Oats, Catmint, Walkers Low, Flame Acanthus, Turk’s Cap, Snapdragon Vine, Gregg’s Blue Mistflower, Thornless Blackberry, Cosmos, White rain lily, Grandpa Otts purple Morning Glory, Arugula plants, one medium sorrel, Mums that are for foliage – white edged, Rudbeckia, Salvia guaranitca (black & blue blooms), A very nice (unknown variety) mint, Purple oxalis, Various sedum (including Judy Fender’s favorite, Sedum potosinum), Violets, Another unidentified shade plant (mini elephant ear looking), Various cacti, Perilla, Goldenseal, Portulaca (small amount), Pink daisy like mums, Frostweed, Lemon balm, and Plumbago.
The sale will take place Saturday, April 30, from 9 am to 4 pm at 609 Shadywood Lane, Richardson, 75080. See you there!
