Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 139 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Wednesday.

More than 40 percent of Texans have been fully vaccinated and new cases and hospitalizations are decreasing, according to The Texas Tribune. The average number of new cases is dropping by 96 cases compared to the previous week. To achieve herd immunity,  75% to 90% of Texans would need to be vaccinated.

A new promotion effort by businesses, sports teams and the Dallas Regional Chamber incentivizes more North Texans to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to help get business booming again. Residents of Dallas, Tarrant, Collin or Denton County who are vaccinated between June 9 and Aug. 31 can sign up at the website and will be eligible for prizes. Learn more with NBCDFW.
