Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 159 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths.

A state-wide study showed that Texas’ return to in-person education last fall “gradually but substantially accelerated,” leading to at least 43,000 additional cases and 800 additional deaths statewide reported the Texas Tribune. The study was done by University of Kentucky researchers, choosing Texas as most schools around the country were still closed while Texas and few others were re-opening.

A new poll finds that most unvaccinated Americans say they’ll refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccination. In The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll released Tuesday, 64% of respondents said they have gotten a COVID-19 vaccine and 35% said they haven’t. Read more about the poll from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Local businesses in Dallas are offering incentives to residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine. WFFA reported that Walmart is handing out free water bottles and other items at the Bethel A.M.E. clinic and Beckley Saner Rec Center, with Wingfield’s restaurant serving its famous burgers from its food truck to those getting the vaccine.
