Irving-based Medical City Healthcare has snapped up Weatherford Regional Medical Center, a 103-bed, all-private-room, full-service hospital serving Parker County and the surrounding area. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The Weatherford hospital, which provides a Level IV trauma center, labor and delivery, and high-level cardiac care, has about 600 full-time employees, including employed physicians and medical residents. The facility previously was owned by subsidiaries of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems Inc.
The hospital will be renamed Medical City Weatherford, and all employees in good standing have been transitioned to Medical City Healthcare, an Medical City spokeswoman said.
“We are very pleased to expand our circle of care to Parker County,” Erol Akdamar, president of Medical City Healthcare, said in a release. “Over the coming months, we will work closely with the hospital’s medical staff, employees, and the community to explore ways to enhance services and expand access to specialized healthcare throughout the area.”
Medical City Healthcare has 14 hospitals, 7,000 active physicians, and 13,000 employees in North Texas. It’s part of HCA Healthcare, a Nashville-based, for-profit system with 165 hospitals in the United States and England.
