Tenet in Ongoing Negotiations to Purchase California Hospital

|

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. is still negotiating to acquire Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, Calif., a deal that’s likely to drag on until January, according to The Modesto Bee.

Tenet’s intended acquisition of the 209-bed center was announced in September. Emanuel’s CEO John Sigsbury told the newspaper that the parties are continuing to work through the due diligence process.

The 85-year-old hospital, which is owned by the Evangelical Covenant Church, plans to keep its religious orientation. The hospital has “followed a set of ethical and religious guidelines that govern the hospital’s approach to sanctity-of-life issues and the care of patients,” The Modesto Bee reports.

If the deal goes through as planned, Emanuel Medical Center would become 50th hospital owned by Tenet. The transaction also would require approval from California’s state attorney general.
