CMS: 2012 Claims Unaffected by Scheduled Sustainable Growth Rate Cut

|

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has notified providers that claims  for services performed by Dec. 31 will be unaffected by the 26 percent Medicare sustainable growth rate cut that is scheduled to begin Jan. 1 if “fiscal cliff” negotiations do not delay or avert it.

The American Medical Association has urged Congress to act swiftly to shield physicians from the cut. In a statement, AMA President Jeremy Lazarus said, “With no sign of action from Congress, physicians must prepare themselves and their patients for an impending Medicare crisis.”
