Mayor Rawlings Scraps With Legislators in Austin. He was there yesterday to try to work out a fix to the pension system. It didn’t exactly go smoothly. He told a House Pensions Committee hearing that the city needs more control of the pension. For their part, pension leaders said they think Rawlings wants the pension to fail. After hours of testimony, it was clear that there’s more work to be done.

IRS Digs Through John Wiley Price’s Finances. Yesterday was the beginning of the seventh week of his corruption trial. An IRS agent pointed out on the stand that you have to pay taxes on bribes, which Price failed to do. I’m summarizing. Of course.
