Pig Blood Factory Is Back in Business

|

We’re talking about Columbia Packing Company, of course. That’s the place that was discovered to have been dumping pig blood into a creek that feeds into the Trinity River. The city had forced the place to remain shuttered since January 2012. (Zac had some advice for their crisis management team when the story broke.)

Now, DMN reports, the city of Dallas has given the OK for Columbia to resume meatpacking and distributing from there, but it cannot yet reopen its slaughterhouse. Sounds like they’ve got to do quite a bit of work to get it up to code for that purpose.

The arrangement ends a legal dispute between the city and Columbia, but the company and its executives still face a trial on criminal charges that’s scheduled for August. Zac has some advice for them about that too.
