Eataly Is Coming to Dallas

Stay tuned for pasta and gelati.

Good news for people who love Italian food: Eataly Dallas has formed an LLC, so it’s safe to say that we can expect that they will be landing in our fair, pasta-obsessed city soon. If you’re not familiar, it’s the behemoth that first touched down in New York (near Madison Square Park) in 2010. That was the doing of Lydia and Joe Bastianich (and, formerly, Mario Batali, until his #MeToo allegations). Locations followed in Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Imagine Eatzi’s amped up ten-fold, a sensory overload of dazzling products, grab-and-go, and sit-down fare.

We got the tip last week. Some sleuthing reveals that Eataly Dallas, LLC was indeed registered on April 16, 2019 in Delaware.

I reached out to Kristin Gibbins, Executive Director of Marketing and Strategy at NorthPark, which we had reason to suspect was the location of choice.

“We are not able to comment on Eataly at this time. We have announced the following retailers coming soon: Saint Laurent, Alexandre Birman, Dolce & Gabbana, Byredo, Golden Goose, and Isabel Marant. Aritzia opened yesterday on Level One between Neiman Marcus and Dillard’s,” writes Gibbins. So, you see. Eataly is definitely not—I repeat, not—coming to NorthPark in any capacity that anyone can comment on. Yet.

Our best guess: some people are in some serious negotiations about gelati.

UPDATE:
Some more sleuthing and a synergistic tip from D CEO Managing Editor Brandon Call that involved going back through records of a conversation with Eataly’s CEO Nicola Farinetti caught on the fly while covering the Eataly opening in Las Vegas confirm, once again, the Dallas projection. Next in the queue are Paris, Toronto, London, and a few more in the United States, at a rate of a few per year. So we’re looking at least at 2020.
