The Dallas Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International is focused on farm fresh, locally grown, sustainable and of course delicious for the 2014 Raiser Grazer event featuring a “Fresh Approach.” The evening will pair our Dallas Dames with local and regional farmers and ranchers, working alongside our 20 or so participating Dallas chef Dames, highlighting locally grown products at The Shed (formerly Shed 1) at the Dallas Farmers Market from 5pm-8pm on September 28.

Les Dames d’Escoffier International is a 501c3 philanthropic organization made up of accomplished women in the hospitality, food and fine beverage industries. Focused on young women entering into these industries in particular, their goal is to advance education and philanthropy through scholarships and endowments. Today there are over two dozen chapters around the country, Canada and the United Kingdom. Thanks to the visionary women in the industry in Dallas we were at the forefront shortly after the organization began, forming our local chapter in 1984 and helping Les Dames d’Escoffier reach the required number of city chapters to become an international organization that same year.  Since its inception the organization has donated over $4 million in scholarships and grants since the first chapter was formed in New York in the mid 1970’s.

Our Raiser Grazer event is the biggest event for the organization each year, with this year being that much more special as we will be at the newly remodeled Farmers Market Shed, working directly with our local farmers, while pairing local, national and international wines, local beers and tasty spirits. A few of the featured Dames will include Chef Tiffany Derry making salmon tartare with avocado and olive tapenade and Chef Dunia Borga making her pistachio ice cream, paired with Fall Creek wines from Dame Susan Auler and Merryvale from Dame Barbara Messer. As always the event will feature an impressive silent auction and fun raffle. Tickets are $65 before September 24, $75 after and available now through the Les Dames d’Escoffier International-Dallas Chapter website here.

Full disclosure, I am proud to have recently been invited to join the Dallas Les Dames d’Escoffier International chapter and am honored to be in the mix of such an impressive group of talented women in our Dallas community. We hope we will see you there!
