Hope Cottage, the oldest non-faith, nonprofit adoption agency in Dallas, has kicked off construction on a new 8,000-square-foot facility in Dallas’ Wilson Historic District. Designed by Gensler, the new home is being built at 607 Texas Street.

Sonyia Hartwell, CEO and executive director of Hope Cottage, said the expansion will allow the agency to offer more services to pregnant women, birth families, adoptive families, adopted individuals, and children in need.

The building’s exterior of glass, native stone, and wood siding is designed to give it a “welcoming, warm, and familiar look” Hartwell said. It will also have a wrap-around porch.

The new center is expected to open in March of 2016.
