THE HUMOR OF THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE

Among other things, Rick Perry has taken his fair share of criticism for calling so many special sessions. My sense is that he should call at least as many for something as important as school finance as he did for redistricting, but that’s just me. Anyway, last week Perry’s spokesman Robert Black answered the question this way:

If [legislators] want to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Festivus in Austin, that’s fine with the governor because they are going to stay until they get this done.

Festivus? Really? I must admit that I now like Perry’s office a little bit more (even if they wouldn’t return my calls a few weeks back).
