One more thing from the Clergy Recall story. A word of advice to the preachers: do everyone a favor and stop throwing around the word ‘hate’. It’s a very potent word, and frankly it has little or nothing to do with the problems facing South Dallas. There is no “hate game” and people in other parts of the city don’t “hate” South Dallas. That’s dumb. If you want to describe the wealthy white factions who you feel are insensitive to substandard economic and educational conditions for blacks, find some new descriptors with which to frame your argument (“greedy self-interest,” “isolationists,” and “ungenerous” come to mind). But enough with hate. That’s just another ugly obstacle to us all moving forward together.
