Yes, the rain came down on the Sweany tribe as we brought up the rear of the Sachse Fourth of the July parade (the theme this year was, puzzling enough, Sachse at the Movies; a boy dressed as William Wallace from Braveheart marched behind us, and a truckload of Jedis were up front). But it didn’t dampen our spirits. And while we couldn’t boast names like Pete Sessions or Kay Bailey Hutchison, I did spot Councilman Chris Lam and Sachse EDC chair Guy Brown. What was the most memorable line I heard during our long march toward the high school? “Honey, don’t throw candy at the people. Throw candy toward the people.” Now those are words to live by.
