Baylor Scott and White Leaving Bryan Tower on Heels of Merger

|

After announcing a merger this week with Houston healthcare provider Memorial Hermann, Baylor Scott and White will be leaving their space in Bryan Tower downtown, the Dallas Business Journal reports.

“The employees that are in (Bryan Tower) are part of the consolidation,” Baylor CEO Jim Hinton told the Dallas Business Journal. “When the new building is opened, we will be moving them.”

Without Baylor, the  downtown Dallas 40-story, 1.1 million-square-foot office tower is likely to go into default, the Dallas Business Journal reports.

Meanwhile, Baylor is building a new $70 million office building near Deep Ellum that is likely to be complete in 2020. The new building will include 300,000 square feet and a parking garage.

“Plans are underway to develop a new workspace that will bring together Baylor Scott & White Health’s five North Texas offices under one roof. The building will be constructed on the south side of Landry Park near Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas,” they said via statement.
