Christus Health has named Dr. Sam Bagchi as its new senior vice president/chief medical officer and chief medical information officer. He will replace CMO Dr. Thomas Diller and CMIO Dr. Luke Webster, effective April 24.

In his new role, Bagchi will oversee clinical operations, quality control, and informatics. He will also work to establish strong and collaborative working relationships with the estimated 14,000 physician leaders across Christus’ organization.

Dr. John A. Gillian, executive vice president and chief clinical officer, says he’s confident Bagchi will utilize his talents for collaboration and communication at Christus.

“Bagchi has a strong record of working to ensure physicians, nurses, and clinical care givers have the appropriate information and technology they need to take care of their patients,” Gillian said.

Bagchi will return to Dallas after serving as Presence Health System’s chief medical and quality officer in Chicago. Previously, he served as SVP and CMO of Methodist Health System in Dallas. While at Methodist, Bagchi’s work to build an integrated quality program resulted in state-wide recognition.

Bagchi graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.
