This month’s contributing writers and photographers.

PETER YANG is an Austin-based photographer whose images have been described as having “really cool colors” by many members of the public. He has recently taken up swing dancing, well aware that the fad ended a good five years ago. Still, he is honing his dance steps using a 90-minute instructional video and eagerly awaiting a pair of Bleyer “Boogie Woogie” swing shoes in the mail. Peter’s work has appeared in Time, Fortune, Rolling Stone, Texas Monthly, and the New York Times. This month, his portrait of Rep. Dan Branch, R-Dallas, appears on p. 18. For more examples of his work with “really cool colors,” visit www.peteryang.com.

When the Tax Man comes calling every April 15, DAN FOOTE smiles contentedly as he writes “cartoonist” in the employment space. He’s still amazed a guy can draw funny pictures for a living. Dan was wooed to Texas to be the editorial cartoonist for the Dallas Times Herald (a career choice that died with the Herald in 1991). Not one to admit defeat (or do real work), he took to doodling for the likes of Dr Pepper, Frito Lay, and the Door Magazine. Foote also draws a weekly sports cartoon for the Dallas Morning News. When he’s not drawing or trying to get his fledgling Bible bobbleheads (www.isaacbros.com) off the ground, Foote can be found goofing off with his wife and kids in Allen. This month, his cartoon makes its debut on our back page on p. 144.

Dallasite JANE WOLFE is a freelance writer for the New York Times and the author of two books, The Murchisons and Blood Rich. She is also a former society editor, city desk reporter, and columnist for the Dallas Morning News. For leisure, Jane is a fan of Whirlpools and other types of long, lingering baths with bubbles. But now she—like other frequent flyers before her—is a shower convert, thanks to the ultra-elegant bathroom facilities at American Airlines’ Admirals Clubs. In her Pulse story on p. 22, Jane explains why these showers are appealing not only to arriving international passengers, but also to Dallas residents.

COURTNEY DRESLIN is a Dallas-based freelance writer and part-time attorney. She has come a long way since her childhood days in New York, when her mother had to bribe her with a bowl of M&Ms to brush her hair. After relocating to Dallas and attending SMU, her proximity to NorthPark caused her to become a beauty addict—which worked out well for us, because she helped with our cover story on p. 60. Courtney is currently working on a screenplay and several book projects. She enjoys researching the latest beauty breakthroughs and has a weakness for anything that promises flawless skin, toned muscles, or, most recently, longer eyelashes. She is pictured here with her beautiful dog Hampton, who has the longest eyelashes of all.
