Since he came on board the Folsom Institute for Real Estate at SMU’s Cox School of Business in early 2014, Joseph Cahoon has shouldered several efforts to build up the program. He spends his days engaging with industry leaders, planning events for alumni, consulting at real estate firm HR&A, and—most importantly—educating students. Any conversation with the self-proclaimed real estate geek demonstrates his enthusiasm for his many roles. In a single exchange, he may jump from subject to subject—often without bothering to finish a sentence—to discuss the potential of South Dallas, an exciting development, or a stellar job opportunity a student just accepted.
