84 Point Coffee, a specialty café from the founder of Ascension Coffee, will open in a 1,500-square-foot space inside Fountain Place (1445 Ross Avenue) in early 2018. According to the release:

Russell Hayward, founder of Ascension and 84 Point Coffee, is certified as a Licensed Q Grader by the Specialty Coffee Association of America and is one of a few select coffee professionals around the world who are trained to cup and score Arabica coffee. Mr. Hayward selects every coffee served at 84 Point to ensure its quality.

The Dallas-based cafe expects to open at the renovated Fountain Place in early 2018. 84 Point Coffee is committed to serving only coffee that scores over 84 points on the Specialty Coffee 100 point scale. Only 5-percent of the world’s coffee harvest scores over 80 points, the official quality line for specialty coffee.

“We try to find unique sites that have their own character built in,” says Hayward. “When I first saw Fountain Place, with its world-renowned fountains and trees and its central courtyard, the site seemed like a natural community gathering place, like-minded with the Ascension experience. We knew we had to be part of this special place.”

This will be the shop’s second location. The other is in Addison. There you have it.
