A Tribe Called Quest released its first album in 18 years today, and first album since the death of the beloved Five Foot Assassin — Phife Dawg. It’s called We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service, and features the entire group (yes, including Jairobi) as well as erstwhile local Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Consequence, Jack White, and Busta Rhymes. Is it great? You’re damned right it is. “We the People …” is an early favorite and it’s maybe the most topical song, which is why it’s weird that it has the record’s most dated reference. Tony who, amirite? It’s there above, delivered by Phife, in the lyric video for the song. Note: there is some language on that, but it’s Friday afternoon. What does your boss care? What do you?
