A few weeks ago, I heard Hibiscus was going to close after their lease was up in November. Chef Nicholas Ocano, who had been doing a fine job since the departure of Graham Dodds, left a few weeks ago for a gig at the Gaylord Texan. According to a source inside the restaurant, there was a meeting today and the employees were told the restaurant was closing on Saturday. Hibiscus is owned by Raised Palate, the company owned by Tim Heddington who bought the restaurant, along with others Consilient Restaurants, from Tristan Simon in May 2014. Word is the Hibiscus space will become a commissary space for other Raised Palate restaurants—The Porch, Thirteen Pies (formerly Fireside Pies), and Victor Tango’s. Makes me sad.
