The Funniest People Coming to Dallas This Fall

Flight of the Conchords, Maria Bamford, the Oddball Comedy Festival, and more.

Oddball Comedy Fest | Gexa Energy Pavilion | Sept. 23

Headliner Dane Cook may not inspire as much excitement as some of the big names this comedy tour has brought to town in the past, including Louis C.K., Amy Schumer, but Cook is certainly a popular and energetic performer. Anyway, the undercard is stacked: Jeff Ross, Ali Wong, Jeff Maniscalco, and other very funny people gathered in one place. And unlike last year, the festival does not share a date with the State Fair — we know people who are still caught in that traffic jam.

Hasan Minhaj | The Texas Theatre | Sept. 30

Minhaj is a correspondent on The Daily Show, and the gig has helped him hone a voice that’s sharp and funny about politics. In his one-man show, “Homecoming King,” which he’ll be performing here, the comic focuses on his upbringing as a first generation Indian American.

Doug Benson | Hyena’s Dallas | Oct. 1

The unrepentant stoner and cinephile talks marijuana and movies in a live taping of his podcast, which begins, appropriately, at 4:20 p.m.

Matt Braunger | Hyena’s Dallas | Oct. 6-8

The Chicago comic is a regular on the comedy podcast circuit, and was a featured performer on MadTV’s final season, but if you know him, it’s from his stand-up.

Arsenio Hall | Arlington Improv | Oct. 7 & 8

Somebody should really give Hall another talk show. Until then, we’ll have to settle for seeing the comedian on stage.

Bridget Everett | House of Blues | Oct. 13

A raunchy associate of Amy Schumer, Everett’s distinguished herself as a performer whose “alt-cabaret provocateur” act obliterates the boundaries of good taste — as the best comedy should sometimes do.

Flight of the Conchords | Verizon Theatre | Oct. 26

The beloved New Zealand musical comedy duo returns after an unbearably long absence. Now we’ll hope for a return of Flight of the Conchords’ unbearably short-lived HBO show.

Unelectable You | The Majestic Theatre | Nov. 1

The improv geniuses at Chicago’s Second City and, um, Slate have teamed up for a sketch show lampooning this very lampoonable election campaign.

Adam Carolla | The Majestic Theatre | Nov. 4

The comic is probably best known these days for his daily podcast, the unimaginatively named Adam Carolla Show, recording live here.

Maria Bamford | The Majestic Theatre | Nov. 5

Bamford’s long been one of the funniest people in America, and we’re hopeful that her new Netflix show Lady Dynamite has made more people realize it.

Todd Barry | The Texas Theatre | Nov. 17
